Hojicha is such a unique tea. It’s aroma is used by Japanese shop owners to draw people in to browse their wares. It’s used as a wonderfully calming beverage with subtle notes and great tradition. This Hojicha from Ito En doesn’t disappoint.

2011 World Tea Expo (Day 2)
This year’s World Tea Expo is my 3rd trip to this event. I’ve appreciated the opportunities to learn and meet new people each year. I’ve made friends and contacts from every corner of the world and every continent save for Antarctica. The events and sights from this first day of the expo are similar to those from the past two years. Full of energy, vibrant colors and effusive scents tantalizing for everyone here. Check out my coverage of both Day 1 and Day 3 of the 2011 World Tea Expo.
2010 New York Tea Tour (Part 1)
This year I made a resolution to visit tea companies, shops and facilities in different areas of the United States. In the future I’d love to cover options around the world, but on a bloggers budget I get to stay largely in the US.
Back in March I took a trip to Colorado. Consequently I did a writeup on that trip in three parts. I believe the relative summation is there, but there are several companies I failed to make it to, including Teatulia. I look to go back to Colorado in the future to pick up where I left off.
A couple weeks back I took a trip to New York City. Those of you who follow me on Twitter may remember my many tweets from Manhattan. While in NYC I took the opportunity to visit a number of tea shops. There is much I missed which I hope to get to in a number of future trips.

World Tea Expo 2010 Recap (Part 2)
The World Tea Expo held every year in Las Vegas is the world’s only industry convention dedicated solely to the premium tea industry. It’s not open to the public and I’ve been very lucky to attend the past two years!
Here’s part two of this three part recap to the activities and friends from this year’s expo!
Sencha Shot (ITO EN)
Two weeks ago I introduced you to ITO EN’s Oolong Shot. Today, we’ll cover their Sencha shot, another antioxident packing can of tea ready to drink.
Oolong Shot (ITO EN)
There are times when I need some quick energy. Not being a coffee drinker anymore, tea is where I would prefer to turn. Tea however, doesn’t always provide that quick pick-me-up I need… that’s where ITO EN’s ‘Shots’ come in!
Green Hoji (ITO EN)
We’re quickly moving into the colder seasons here in the Northern hemisphere. That doesn’t mean we don’t still need some good iced tea though! This relaxing roasted green tea from ITO EN hit the spot recently.
Golden Oolong (ITO EN)
Why oh why had I not thought of an iced Oolong tea before this!?! I can’t believe it never occured to me. Well, regardles… this surprisingly light but flavorful ready to drink iced Oolong tea is a real thirst quencher!
Green Jasmine (ITO EN)
Jasmine, a flavor either too highly prized… or undervalued. Take your pick. In either event, it’s addition to this ready to drink bottled iced tea is such a refreshing palate pleaser, I’ve not much to say aside from it’s a mighty tasty brew.
Lemongrass Green (ITO EN)
There’s just this feeling, sometimes, which engulfs me. I just need a nice well-balanced but strong iced brew to help soothe and calm my boxy after a hard workout or during a particularly hot day.
